Dough: Aweeee Yeaaaa

Recently I've been craving doughnuts, in particular I've been dying to try out Doughnut Plant. I want to see what this hub bub is all about in regards to the PB & J doughnut. Alas, I haven't found time in my busy schedule to travel to the city, so I've decided to have some Dough instead.

Dough is still pretty amazing, or as my friend Michelle would say, "that shit is dank." They have a booth at the Brooklyn Flea, but their store is located right up Lafayette.

I've tried most of their flavors, and my favorites include the Lemon Poppy, the Glazed, and Dulce De Leche. I have yet to find a doughnut shop that sells maple bars here. I think that might be a Northwest thing. It's surprising considering how famou Voodoo Doughnut's Bacon Maple Bar is. That being said, I was really craving something similar, so I went with the Dulce De Leche.

OM NOM NOM NOM!!!

And moments later she was gone. Devoured by my gluttonous self. It's really one of the better doughnuts that I've had. The dough was soft, it wasn't overly sweet, and the sliced almonds added great texture to contrast the soft bite. It didn't feel overly greasy or taste overly buttery. Also, you can't ever go wrong with Dulce De Leche. If you want something less sweet, the Lemon Poppy is definitely the route to go to. The poppy seeds add great flavor and texture, and the lemon glaze has a nice tangy sweet flavor. Two donuts ran me about 5 bucks, which seems pretty reasonable given the quality of the donuts.

Here's  videoI found of them making the doughnuts. No joke, I've seen them up at 4am prepping for the workday. The store has large glass windows, so you can see them hard at work from the street.
