Red Mill Burgers: Bacon 4 Dayz

Second day in the S-E-A, but it doesn't feel like I've arrived in Seattle until I visit Red Mill Burgers. Well that's just what me and Rachelle sought out to do tonight. This is actually the first of a two part adventure, but there's just too much content to fit in one post. That's what she said.

I first discovered Red Mill in undergrad and I've been in love ever since. I swear no one does bacon justice like these folks, and I have yet to have a tastier burger. They also make some really great shakes. Like all great places, it's cash only.

Here is a picture of the exterior from across the street. Yes it was another rainy night. Why they call it Red Mill I have no idea. I mean it's not even real red brick.

A shot from their parking lot. Dat painting.

The interior is something like an old school diner, with red and chrome. On the other side are taller tables and bar stools. There is quite a bit of seating but usually this place is filled to the brim with people so don't count on sitting down. If you insist on sitting be sure to snag a table as soon as someone leaves, or have one person reserve the table while others order.

Here's a shot with the bar stools. There was a line of people when we got there, so I figured I would wait until we finished our meal to take interior shots. It didn't occur to me that it was near closing time, and that they would dim the lights. At least it makes for an interesting shot.

Burger and fries. Enough said.

I got the bacon deluxe with cheese, which is Pepper Bacon, Lettuce, Tomato, Pickle, Red Onion, American Cheese, Mill Sauce. It's a really simple burger, with really basic ingredients sandwiched between the classic sesame seed bun. I like that they placed the lettuce on the bottom of the patty, to help prevent the bottom bun from getting soggy. I can't say that these are the best fries I've ever had, because they are far from it, but I will say they compliment the burger very well. I felt like they were a little under-seasoned, but I tend to lean toward very bold flavors. Go try it, you won't be disappointed.
