BK Bird + Pushikin: Bird is the Word

The bird most certainly is the word. A post that has been long over due. This has been sitting in my drafts bin since the end of winter break 2012. Whoops. Guess I've been pretty busy. That aside, I wanted get out a few posts before finals week is in full swing. A friend had mentioned that a new joint called Brooklyn Bird just opened up on Myrtle and we decided to see what it was all about.

Located right across the street from the Brooklyn Tap House (one of my favorite bars), the Bird offers a wide variety of drunken eats.

Sana had ordered the Truffle Mac and Cheese. The grain is mostly from my really bad camera. It was fairly tasty, and on point, though it is hard to really mess up something that is smothered in cheese. However, I was extremely underwhelmed at how small the portion was. 7 bucks for something the size of a dan tat.

Jon got the Asian Thighs and Fries. He said the chicken was quite juicy, but most dark meat is inherently juicy even when overcooked. I thought it was average at best, but this was perhaps the most decent sized portion for the price. 8 bucks.

Sana also had a side of chicken pot pie which was tasty, but again extremely small portioned.

I had the Classic Spiedie, which was alright. It was again, something very comforting and tasty, but also something I probably could have made myself with minimal effort. A slice of plain american cheese ripped up and put on a hot dog bun with grilled chicken on top shouldn't run me 6.75. Overall I thought it was overpriced for the neighborhood, especially with Taqueria Tepango right across the street. Even when delightfully inebriated, tacos would always seem to be the better option. Perhaps I am just a frugal drunk.

Next we hit up Pushkin, which was a few steps away.

A shot of the crepe. This was the apple crisp crepe, which was amazing. It's like an apple pie...a warm apple pie. That's what she said. All in all, I thought it was quite delicious and portioned quite nicely. It's large enough to share for 6 bucks. The interior also has a really nice ambiance, similar to a coffee shop.

I know you want it. That's what she said.
