Magnolia Bakery: Cake, Cause its my Birthday
So for my birthday, my roomie Sujee decided to buy me Magnolia cupcakes and banana pudding. I've never had anything from Magnolia Bakery since I'm not too big on sweets, or kitchy bakeries. Despite this, I have to say that the banana pudding...that's no joke. Seriously that stuff is delicious, and that's coming from someone that isn't big on sweets. I've been told that this is also my campaign birthday, 24 on the 24th. I don't usually drink, but tonight I may be obligated to pop some bottles. And by bottles I mean Martinelli's...most likely.
Like I said before, I'm not a big fan of cupcakes, but I'll admit these were pretty tasty, and very well presented. However, I don't think they are any better, or worse, than cupcakes I've had from other bakeries. I felt the frosting was a bit too thick and a bit too sweet. I have no idea how much this cost because it was a present, but it's probably more than I would be willing to pay.
This tough...this heavenly glory known as banana pudding was SO GOOD. The soft texture of the pudding with the rich flavor of the banana was divine. I'm generally not a fan of banana flavored products, but this actually tasted like banana and was not overwhelming sweet. The pieces of vanilla wafers really add a nice texture and gives the pudding a ticker body (I originally thought the wafers were bread because of how soft they are). On the spoon you can see that there are actual pieces of sliced banana in there which really adds substance to the light creamy pudding. I've never had banana pudding before, but I would not be surprised if this was the best banana pudding in existence.
Close up of the chocolate. I thought this was WAAAAY too sweet. But that's just me.
Close up of the Red Velvet. Soft red cake, with the standard cream cheese frosting, less thick than the chocolate but still too sweet for me.
The whole package. Best. Roomie. Ever!
