Adel's Best #1 Halal Food Cart: Name Says It All

I've been suffering from cabin fever ever since Sandy took down all of the train lines near me. Luckily the Forte Green Brooklyn Flea was open, and within walking distance. A few stands here and there were missing, but the majority of the businesses came out to enjoy the post hurricane weekend. I decided to try Bon Chouvie's bravas, described as twice fried potatoes with spicy tomato mayo.

I also discovered that a Halal Truck has popped up right in front of Pratt's main entrance. NY has a plethora of Halal Trucks, but there are only several that stand out in terms of price, quantity, and quality. I decided to try it out since it was literally right there.

Here's the truck. Fancy right? *UPDATE* The truck is no longer at this location. Unfortunately it was short lived :(

I ordered lamb over rice, which ran me 5 dollars. The portion was big enough to feed 1.5 people. It comes with your standard white sauce, hot sauce, rice, lamb, salad, and grilled onions. Everything is pretty tasty and the meat wasn't dry like some trucks I've tried. For 5 bucks, I'd definitely come here again.

Yummmmmmm starch. I love me some potatoes, especially on a cold winter day like today. Nothing can really replicate the bite of a fried potato; the soft but crisp exterior combined with the soft fluffy interior. Lightly salted and topped with smokey, tomatoey, mildly spicy mayo. I did think they were a bit expensive for 4 bucks, especially when you could get lamb over rice for a dollar more and it has all the essential food groups (meat and rice). I would still buy them again because, when you crave potatoes nothing else will do. Also they fry it right in front of you so you know you're getting a fresh batch.

This was the extent of the hurricane damage in my neighborhood. Thank goodness it was just this.
